Bloemfontein – Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a 1-1 draw by Siwelele FC in Wednesday’s Betway Premiership clash at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium, following a costly mistake by goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.
Williams, who received a back-pass from Kegan Johannes, was dispossessed by Tebogo Potsane, allowing Vincent Pule to score into an empty net and give Siwelele an early lead.

The error drew criticism from supporters on social media, particularly as it contributed to Sundowns dropping points in the match.
But according to The Citizen, Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso said: “We have a goalkeeper that last year was the best in Africa and this season he was nominated for the best goalkeeper in Africa.
“He has been the (number one) national team goalkeeper for several years and he doesn’t need any comment or negative appreciation. He just needs respect and that’s what I give to him.”

Sundowns responded in the second half, with substitute Lebo Mothiba scoring the equaliser.
However, the champions were reduced to 10 men late in the game when Teboho Mokoena received a second yellow card with nine minutes remaining, limiting their ability to push for a winner, News24.
Cardoso acknowledged the early mistake affected his team’s composure.
“There’s obviously a mistake that gave our opponents some energy and that changed the emotional state of my players,” he said.
According to Times Live, he added that Sundowns made adjustments at half-time, bringing in new players and energy, which helped them secure the equaliser.
Despite dominating portions of the game and creating several opportunities, Sundowns were unable to claim all three points.
