Amersfoort, Mpumalanga – Police in Amersfoort have arrested two foreign nationals, aged 43 and 45, following the recovery of a stolen Toyota Fortuner 2.4 GD-6 reported stolen in Pinetown last month.
The Amersfoort Police said the operation was prompted by information received from the Rural Safety Partnership, a local farmers’ community initiative.
Acting swiftly, officers tracked the vehicle along the N11 Road towards Amersfoort.
“The vehicle was spotted by our members while being chased by farmers from Amersfoort,” said a spokesperson for the South African Police Service (SAPS).

“Upon realizing they had been intercepted, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Our officers, together with the farmers, gave chase and successfully apprehended the two suspects.”
The suspects have been charged with possession of suspected stolen property and for contravening the Immigration Act of South Africa.
“They are expected to make their first appearance at the Amersfoort Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 05 December 2025,” the spokesperson added.
SAPS commended the partnership between police and the farming community for the rapid response and recovery of the stolen vehicle, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat crime in rural areas.
