Limpopo – One of the suspects who recently escaped from lawful custody in Limpopo has been re-arrested following a tip-off, the South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed.
The suspect, Fana Fenyane (38), was apprehended by a multidisciplinary police team in Zaaiplaas (Sihlakwane) on Tuesday night, around 23:00.
Fenyane was expected to face charges of escape from lawful custody and may appear before the Mashishing Magistrate’s Court today, Wednesday, 3 December.
In a statement, SAPS urged the public to assist in locating the remaining suspects.
“The police are still appealing to the community to assist in locating the remaining suspects. Anyone with information can contact the Detective Branch Commander of Lydenburg SAPS on 076 060 0273, call CrimeStop at 08600 10111, or use the MySAPSApp,” the statement read.
This development comes amid heightened efforts by law enforcement to curb escapes and ensure accountability for those in custody. Authorities say the re-arrest underscores the importance of community involvement in assisting investigations.
