Johannesburg – Safa CEO Lydia Monyepao has confirmed ongoing discussions with Bafana Bafana players over bonuses for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Previous bonus disputes have disrupted team preparations, so Safa is engaging players early to avoid conflicts.
“We had conversations with the leadership of the senior players in Bafana Bafana when they were in camp last time in Sandton,” Monyepao said.

“So the talks have begun, everyone has put their cards on the table and it is about getting approvals on what they have proposed and what we have proposed. We need to find each other, I an assure you that but before the camp starts we will be on the same page.”
The team will begin camp on December 8 at the University of Pretoria, with the squad announcement coming later.
Safa has also participated in a CAF workshop to ensure tournament compliance.
While CAF covers expenses for 23 players, the coach, Hugo Broos, may decide to take up to four additional players at the federation’s cost, according to Times Live.
