Cape Town – Ntando Duma was all set to grace the National Film and Television Awards — she had been invited to present the very first award of the night — but ended up staying home after a fashion disaster involving her designer.
She shared a video showing a stark contrast between the butter‑yellow suit she had envisioned and what the designer actually delivered.
In her post, Ntando said she had “asked this guy that I trusted with my life … to put together a suit for me, butter yellow, it’s cute, it’s sexy, it’s classy … and elegant” and even sent him an inspiration photo.
But when the time came to leave for the event, she admitted she wasn’t wearing the outfit — because what she received was “nothing like” what she’d asked for.

As she stood in front of the mirror, she revealed side-by-side images of the original design versus the actual garment, and her disappointment was clear. She explained that while her husband’s outfit turned out perfectly, hers was a different story — so much so that she decided not to attend.
In her Instagram video which was later deleted, she also joked about the mishap with fans, saying she removed her false eyelashes in defeat and stayed home “ngingenelwe amanzi endlini”, t she trusted someone who had “delivered some of my iconic pieces before.”
