Johannesburg – The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has condemned a deadly shooting at Dube Hostel in Soweto on Sunday, which left two members dead and another critically injured during a recruitment drive.
The party described the attack as occurring during a routine mobilisation campaign.
“Two members, a male and female, were shot and rushed to the hospital,” the party said in a statement.
“Cde Virginia received treatment at Bara Hospital and discharged at around 8pm, while Cde Mabasa remains in critical condition, fighting for his life at the same hospital.
Tragically, another member, Nzuza, was ambushed and shot multiple times while returning from transporting the injured to hospital and reporting the first attack at Meadowlands police station.
He died at the scene.
Murder and attempted murder cases are under investigation.

The MK Party confirmed it is fully cooperating with investigators and would formally report the attacks to both the Independent Electoral Commission and the police.
The party vowed not to be intimidated by violence.
“As the MK Party, we unequivocally state there will be no ‘no-go zones’ in Gauteng or anywhere else in the country. We will not yield to acts of political intolerance and intimidation,” it said.
The party warned against any attempt to return South Africa to “the days of political violence in trains, hostels and communities” and urged its members not to retaliate.
“We call on all our members and supporters to refrain from responding to this cowardly violence with retaliation against members of other political parties,” the MK Party said, stressing that its struggle remains a “peaceful revolution dedicated to the complete liberation of black people.”
