Cape Town – Former International Relations minister Naledi Pandor has had her US visa unexpectedly revoked, despite holding a valid multiple-entry visa and travelling to the United States frequently.
She told The Citizen she received an email from the US Consulate informing her of the revocation, without any explanation. The Consulate has yet to comment.
“I received an email indicating my visa has been revoked. I have no further details,” the report quoted her as saying.

Pandor recently returned from the US and has remained active internationally since retiring from politics in 2024.
As chairperson of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, she delivered high-profile speeches, including a July 2025 UN address where she described Nelson Mandela as a necessary “good troublemaker” in the fight for global justice.
“I’ve no understanding of why my visa has been revoked. There’s no explanation offered. According to the section mentioned in the email, no reasons need to be provided by the United States,” she said, according to EWN.
She has also been outspoken about global power politics.
The visa revocation comes as the US shifts its stance on G20 participation in Johannesburg amid last-minute diplomatic discussions.
