Cape Town – Western Cape police have made a major bust in Knysna, confiscating dagga valued at almost R500 000.
According to police, officers on patrol spotted a suspicious car in Knysna’s central business district — but when they approached, the vehicle sped off.
The pursuit ended on the N2 near Knysna Provincial Hospital, where they stopped the car and conducted a search.
Police spokesperson Christopher Spies said that “two big bags stuffed with dagga” were found in the boot of the car. Both occupants were arrested and remain in custody.
He added that they face “a charge of dealing in drugs each.”

This is not the first significant drug seizure in Knysna this year — in August 2025, police confiscated mandrax tablets with a street value of around R350 000 during an intelligence-driven sting operation.
The Western Cape’s intensifying drug enforcement efforts reflect a broader crackdown in the region: as previously reported, major raids in the Garden Route resulted in dozens of arrests, with substances like tik, mandrax, and dagga being seized.
