Durban – A 34-year-old mother of two was shot and killed at her home in Waterloo, KwaZulu-Natal, on Friday afternoon, prompting a police investigation into what appears to be an execution-style killing.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the shooting occurred at a residence on Masenna Road shortly after 4pm.
“Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the scene at approximately 16:03,” the organisation said in a statement.
“Upon arrival, Reaction Officers found the victim lying on the ground at the rear of the premises.”
The woman had sustained a gunshot wound to the face and another to her left shoulder. “She showed no signs of life and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” RUSA added.
Her two children, aged 17 and 13, are believed to have been inside the house when the shooting occurred. “They reportedly heard a loud noise moments before discovering their mother lying in a pool of blood behind the house,” RUSA said.
The motive for the murder has not yet been established, and no arrests have been made.
Police have opened a case of murder and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
