Cape Town – The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has confirmed that the 2025 National Senior Certificate (NSC) final examinations will run from Tuesday, 21 October, to Thursday, 27 November, beginning with the Computer Applications Technology Paper 1 practical.
Over one million candidates are registered across four assessment bodies, with 766,543 full-time pupils under DBE, 23,601 through IEB and SACAI, and 137,018 part-time candidates seeking to improve past results.

IEB exams began a week earlier, with this week’s timetable covering subjects like History, Agricultural Science, Dance Studies, and Further Studies Physics.
Ahead of the exams, the annual NSC Pledge Signing Ceremony was held at Harry Gwala High School in Khayelitsha on 17 October.
Minister Siviwe Gwarube highlighted the event’s emphasis on integrity, honesty, and accountability, encouraging pupils to uphold fair and ethical examination practices.
