Harare – Following the tragic bus crash in Limpopo that claimed 42 lives, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has directed relevant government departments and agencies to assist the families of the Zimbabwean victims.
According to an official statement, Mnangagwa instructed his government to facilitate the repatriation of the victims’ remains and to provide financial support to the affected families for burial arrangements.
The government will also assist with the medical bills of the injured.

The President expressed deep shock and grief upon learning of the Limpopo bus crash, which claimed lives from multiple nationalities, including Zimbabweans.
“That so many lives were lost in this incident once more urges us to ensure maximum diligence in the movement of our peoples regardless of borders and differences in legislation.
“Life remains precious whenever it is lost and in whatever country,” said Mnangagwa.
He emphasised the importance of regional cooperation and a borderless community, urging cross-border collaboration among traffic enforcement agencies to improve road safety across the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

“In view of increased cross-border movements in our SADC region, facilitated by our collective efforts towards a borderless Community, it has become incumbent for traffic enforcement agencies across jurisdictions to collaborate more closely, and for our respective Governments to harmonise our legislations in respect of vehicular traffic,” he said.
Mnangagwa also commended the Government of the Republic of South Africa for its swift and compassionate response to the tragedy.
“On behalf of the Government of Zimbabwe, I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to families of the bereaved commuters here in Zimbabwe and other SADC countries so affected,” said Mnangagwa.
