Cape Town – Suspended police minister Senzo Mchunu says he remains unfazed by allegations of political interference in the criminal justice system, which have emerged at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
Speaking at a memorial lecture in KwaZulu-Natal, Mchunu welcomed the opportunity to present his side before the commission.
“I am glad that I will get an opportunity to present my side of the story in the commission… I’m ready to go to the commission… I’m grateful that an opportunity is coming for me to have my say,” said Mchunu.
He was suspended by President Cyril Ramaphosa following accusations from KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who claimed he interfered with police operations, including disbanding the political killings task team, and had associations with criminal cartels.
