Cape Town – The Polokwane High Court in Limpopo resumed proceedings on Monday in a gruesome double murder trial involving two women whose bodies were reportedly dumped in a pigsty.
The accused are farm owner Zachariah Johannes Olivier and his employee, William Musora.
The victims, Maria Makgato and Lucia Ndlovu, were allegedly shot and killed on the Onvervaght farm in August 2024.
Their bodies were later discovered in a pig enclosure, where they had reportedly been partially eaten by pigs.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed that a former co-accused, Rudolph de Wet, has turned State witness under Section 204.
NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi said, “The State is ready to proceed with the trial and has turned accused number two, De Wet, to be a Section 204 witness”, reported IOL.
De Wet is expected to provide key testimony about the events that took place on the day of the killings.
As reported by The Guardian, he told investigators that he was ordered to dispose of the women’s bodies after they were shot.
According to court documents, the women had entered the farm looking for discarded dairy products before being confronted and attacked.

Olivier and Musora face two counts of premeditated murder, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and defeating the ends of justice. Musora also faces an additional immigration-related charge after it emerged that he did not have valid documentation to work in South Africa.
Community outrage has grown since the case first came to light.
Residents have described the killings as “barbaric” and “inhumane,” calling for harsh punishment for those responsible. One community leader said outside court, “This is one of the most disturbing and cruel acts our province has ever seen.”
The trial, which began in August, is expected to continue until October 17.
