Johannesburg – Tiffany Meek (31) from Fleurhof is due in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday to challenge the ruling that kept her in custody.
She is accused of murdering her 11-year-old son, Jayden-Lee Meek, whose half-naked body was found near their home on May 14, 2025, a day after he went missing.
Meek, arrested on July 11, also faces charges of crimen injuria and attempting to defeat the ends of justice. She claims she is the sole breadwinner and can afford R5,000 bail.
Murder-accused Tiffany Meek denied bail. Magistrate Anneline Africa said Meek did not make a case to be released from custody. The 31-year-old is charged with the murder of her son, Jayden-Lee Meek, in May. #DStv403 pic.twitter.com/ngdQ3NzBda

An online petition, whose origin is unclear, argues her detention is unfair, highlighting alleged flaws in the investigation and saying jail prevents her from grieving, supporting her family, and preparing her defence while creating a presumption of guilt before trial.
