Durban – A KwaZulu-Natal minibus taxi driver has been arrested after fleeing the scene of a scholar transport accident on the KwaKhetha Bridge, which left at least 20 children injured.
The driver, who only holds a learner’s licence and no Professional Driving Permit, violated the National Land Transport Act, reports said on Tuesday.
KZN MEC for Transport Siboniso Duma condemned reckless driving, noting this was the third school transport crash in the Umgungundlovu District in four days.
“The driver has no driver’s licence. He violated the National Land Transport Act by transporting learners without a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP). The driver is in possession of a learner’s licence only,” The Citizen quoted him as saying.
Most disturbing is that the taxi driver disappeared and law enforcement agencies are looking for him. https://t.co/5yeHKSrRKn
