Pretoria – The Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Criminality, Political Interference and Corruption in the Criminal Justice System will begin its hearings on 1 September 2025, chairperson Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga announced on Wednesday.
The first hearing is expected to be held in public.
The Commission, set up to probe widespread allegations of corruption and political meddling in South Africa’s justice system, has confirmed that its offices and hearings will be based at the Bridgette Mabandla Justice College in central Pretoria.
Justice Madlanga said the venue, which was made available to the Commission free of charge, was chosen after several options in Gauteng were considered.

“The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is hard at work to ensure that hearings will commence as scheduled,” Madlanga said.
He added that the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is making alterations to the premises to render it suitable for proceedings.
The Commission’s offices and hearings will be located at:
Bridgette Mabandla Justice College, 332 Johannes Ramokhoase Street, corner of Johannes Ramokhoase and Sisulu Streets, Pretoria.
Madlanga stressed that the Commission’s offices are not yet open for public submissions, and that further announcements will be made in due course.
