Cape Town – South African rapper and cultural icon Sho Madjozi, born Maya Christinah Xichavo Wegerif, has quietly stepped into a new chapter: motherhood.
The “John Cena” hitmaker surprised fans with an intimate and heartfelt Instagram post announcing the birth of her first child, following a fully private nine-month pregnancy.
Accompanying the announcement was a series of polished maternity photos—as well as a tender image of her newborn. In her caption, she shared: “Y’all go ahead and enjoy Friday without me. My dream of becoming a mum has finally come true.”

The announcement comes after weeks of speculation following a baby shower that surfaced online in mid-July—an intimate affair with pastel decorations and a banner reading “Welcome to Maya’s Baby Shower.” Neither Sho Madjozi nor close associates confirmed it at the time.
