Cape Town – Jada McGowan’s first television appearance on Generations: The Legacy didn’t go as smoothly as she might have hoped when a short scene — showing her character’s shocked reaction to a missing R17 000 camera went viral for all the wrong reasons.
Viewers didn’t hold back, mocking what they perceived as an underwhelming performance. Comments across social media included blunt critiques.

@Gojasisboring commented, “Ungaphinde uvele kwiTv yasekhaya😤😤✋🏿”
“As a country we are pleading with you to find another career🙏🏼.. We promise to donate for the tuition fees,” said @Obasi commented.
Jada, just 22 and fresh from AFDA, refused to let negativity define her moment.
She posted a TikTok video celebrating her debut.
“From prayer to screen … All glory to God for opening this door for me. I’m just getting started!”— and responded to critics with grace, writing, “Yes, chomi, I did see the comments, but I’m not bothered.”

In later interviews she made clear that the backlash didn’t shake her — if anything, it sharpened her resolve.
“It didn’t have any impact on me at all,” she said.
“It motivated me even more … I know I’m not perfect and there’s always room for improvement. … I won’t let one clip and haters outshine my whole mindset and my confidence. I’m going to continue pursuing, pushing and doing the most”, reported IOL.
