Cape Town – A 37-year-old man is set to appear in the Hermanus Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 11 August 2025, in connection with the murder of a 59-year-old woman who was gunned down outside the Whale Mall last week.
The victim was shot by armed assailants on Thursday, 7 August, and later succumbed to her injuries.
Police believe the attack may be linked to ongoing taxi violence in the area.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), an extensive investigation was launched following the shooting, during which several people were questioned.

The breakthrough came on Saturday, 9 August, when the suspect was formally charged.
Over the weekend, detectives seized two vehicles and a firearm as part of the probe. SAPS said serious violent crime investigators are continuing efforts to trace additional suspects.
Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
