Cape Town – Five pupils from a senior secondary school in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, have been suspended after a video surfaced showing a girl being slapped and harassed by a group of boys.
The video, which surfaced on social media on August 1, shows the girl being slapped, punched, and pushed while other learners laugh and record the incident.

According to Times Live, the Education MEC, Fundile Gade, and officials visited the school on Monday, and the bus driver who transported the pupils was also suspended.
Disciplinary hearings will begin soon, led by the provincial education office.
The boys had prior complaints against them, including being caught with alcohol on school grounds, the report quoted The Daily Dispatch as saying.
The attack seems to be retaliation after the girl reported them for damaging a school fence.
The girl’s mother has filed an assault complaint with the police, seeking their arrest.
A voice note from the local taxi association revealed the bus driver witnessed the incident but felt unable to intervene.
