Cape Town – EFF leader Julius Malema has publicly declared support for KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who recently alleged that a powerful crime syndicate involving politicians, law enforcement, prosecutors, and the judiciary is operating in South Africa.
Speaking at the EFF’s 12th anniversary rally in Khayelitsha on Saturday, Malema encouraged Mkhwanazi to remain firm, promising him a place in the EFF if he is fired.
Malema urged other police officers to also stand against crime and corruption, and called on citizens to come forward with information on drug lords and gun violence, especially in areas like the Cape Flats.
“Fighters, we are General Mkhwanazi, and General Mkhwanazi is us. We support Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. We are not ashamed of General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi,” Malema said.

“We are calling upon more Mkhwanazis in the police to come out and fight crime and syndicates that have captured the police, that have captured our country. We will not sit back and allow our country to be controlled by drug syndicates.
“We say to Mkhwanazi, do not be shaken, because if they fire you, there is a position for you in the EFF so that you can continue to fight corruption in South Africa.
“General Mkhwanazi should know that there is only one home for the fearless, and that home is the EFF.”
President Ramaphosa has since launched a commission to investigate Mkhwanazi’s claims, and Parliament has set up an ad hoc committee.
