Cape Town – Western Cape police seized narcotics worth over R54 million during a major drug bust in Goodwood on Sunday, 13 July 2025, arresting two foreign nationals linked to the haul.
According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie, members attached to Operation Restore acted on a tip-off and raided a house in Molteno Street at approximately 13:45.
During their initial search, officers found 6kg of heroin stashed in a cupboard. A 32-year-old Tanzanian national, who occupied the room, was arrested and charged with dealing in drugs. The heroin has an estimated street value of R1 million.
A further search of the residence led to the discovery of 100g of heroin in another bedroom. This resulted in the arrest of a 28-year-old Burundian national, who was charged with drug possession. The heroin found in the second room is valued at approximately R16,000.

“While processing the suspects, the members received further information of more drugs hidden at the residence. The members expanded the search, leading to the discovery of 145kg of tik and 16kg of heroin found in the roof of the residence. The estimated street value is R53,3 million, bringing the total value of the discovery to R54.3million,” Pojie said.
The suspects are due to appear in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 15 July 2025. The case is being investigated by the Narcotics Section within the Provincial Organised Crime Unit.
Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile, commended the team for their swift and effective action.
“We are determined to rid our communities of the scourge of drug trafficking and the social ills it fuels,” Patekile said.
Police investigations are ongoing.
