Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa addresses the nation at 19:00 on July 13 following serious allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi against Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and senior police officials.
Mkhwanazi accused Mchunu of corruption and collusion with criminal elements, prompting increased security for the commissioner.
The presidency says Ramaphosa, who was attending the BRICS Summit in Brazil at the time of the allegations, views the matter as a national security concern and has been in consultations ahead of his address.
Ramaphosa emphasised that those who are guilty must be held accountable in line with the law.
