Cape Town – Tenderpreneur Vusi “Cat” Matlala appeared in a Johannesburg court on Friday, clean-shaven and suited, over charges relating to an attempted hit on his ex-girlfriend, actress Tebogo Thobejane.
His wife, Tsakani, who is also an accused in the case, joined him in the dock.

The case, involving a 2023 drive-by shooting in Sandton that left Thobejane unharmed but seriously injured her friend, was postponed to next month after the defence requested access to certain state evidence.
Matlala arrived in leg irons amid heavy police presence.

The embattled businessman has recently drawn attention over his suspected ties to Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.
KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi recently accused Senzo Mchunu of being under criminal investigation and linked to corruption in the SAPS, using Matlala’s alleged irregular tender as an example.
Mchunu has denied the claims, calling them unfounded.
