Cape Town – The Western Cape chairperson of Santaco, Mandla Hermanus, has apologised for a violent road rage incident involving a minibus taxi driver who allegedly stabbed a motorist multiple times at an intersection in Maitland, Cape Town.
The attack, captured on video, showed the taxi driver repeatedly stabbing the victim after a traffic altercation.
The incident occurred on June 26 but only recently gained attention on social media.

According to Times Live, Santaco identified the driver and owner, reported them to authorities, and confirmed the driver will be banned from operating taxis.
“When we looked at this [footage] we were shocked. It’s sad to see one of our drivers behaving in that manner which was barbaric and uncalled for,” the report quoted Santaco provincial chair Mandla Hermanus as saying.
The victim’s sister Jameelah Pandey sad that he survived after emergency surgery and is recovering at home.
She said that the incident started when the taxi driver drove dangerously, repeatedly cutting off the victim and using his phone while driving. This reckless behaviour escalated into a violent confrontation in which the taxi driver allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times.
