Polokwane – Police have launched a manhunt for two suspects after a 50-year-old man was shot and killed along the R71 road near an overnight accommodation facility in Mankweng on Sunday night.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the incident occurred at around 23:30 on 6 July 2025. Officers were called to the scene, where they discovered a white sedan that had veered off the road and landed in a ditch.
“The driver, a male victim, was found with gunshot wounds and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival,” said Ledwaba.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was shot while inside the vehicle by two unknown suspects who then fled the scene on foot. Witnesses allege that the suspects were speaking Zulu.”
A case of murder has been opened.
Police are urging anyone with information that could aid the investigation or lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact Investigating Officer Sergeant Samuel Malemela at 076 749 8403, Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or submit information via the MySAPSApp.
The investigation is ongoing.
