Cape Town – A 65-year-old doctor, believed to be a gastroenterologist, survived an attempted murder after being shot multiple times while driving to work in Westville, Durban, on Friday morning.
He managed to escape and is recovering from his injuries, reports said.
“It’s believed that the doctor is in a stable condition,” eNCA reported.
The motive for the attack is unknown.

According to Highway Mail, the doctor was shot around 04:45.
The hospital said that the shooting occurred off hospital property and did not impact any staff, patients, or visitors.
“The doctor sustained a minor gunshot wound to the hand and has been treated. The South African Police Service responded promptly to the scene. We want to emphasise that this incident took place outside hospital property and did not affect any staff, visitors or patients,” the report quoted hospital manager Ishan Sewpersad as saying.
Westville SAPS confirmed the incident, which is being investigated by local detectives.
