Cape Town – The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Yellow Level 4 warning for disruptive rainfall in the Western Cape from 3 to 7 July, as a series of cold fronts are expected to bring severe weather, especially in the Cape Winelands, West Coast, and Overberg.
The third and most intense front will hit on 6 July, with risks of flooding, infrastructure damage, and impacts on informal settlements.
“A series of cold fronts are expected to bring scattered to widespread showers and rain over the Western parts of the Western Cape from Thursday until Sunday.
“The most significant cold front will reach the south Estern Cape by Friday afternoon, where quick and heavy downpours are possible, with another cold front expected on Sunday, SAWS said in a statement.

This warning comes after severe weather across South Africa, particularly in the Eastern Cape, where over 100 people died and more than 6,000 were displaced due to floods.
Cape Town also experienced weather-related damage on 24 June.
Reports predict snowfall, continued cold conditions, and authorities have been on the ground assisting victims.
