Cape Town – Four former Transnet executives — Brian Molefe, Siyabonga Gama, Anoj Singh, and Thamsanqa Jiyane — have been granted R50,000 bail each in a R5-billion corruption case linked to a controversial locomotive deal worth over R90 million.
The case featured prominently in the state capture investigations.
Molefe and Gama, now MK Party Members of Parliament, appeared at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Monday after handing themselves over to police.

They, along with Singh and Jiyane, face charges of fraud, corruption, and money laundering related to an alleged irregular R93 million payment made in 2015 to Trillian Capital, a Gupta-linked company, reports say.
The Zondo Commission recommended that Molefe, Gama, and Singh be investigated for their alleged role in diverting public funds to the Gupta family.
It is alleged that a contract to supply over 1,000 locomotives was first awarded to another company but later shifted to Trillian, with a questionable invoice for R93 million subsequently issued.
Molefe has stated, via an affidavit read by his lawyer, that he intends to plead not guilty and described the evidence against him as “extremely weak”.
