Cape Town – The Democratic Alliance (DA) has expressed growing dissatisfaction with President Cyril Ramaphosa, saying it is losing confidence in his leadership.
This follows the dismissal of DA member Andrew Whitfield as Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, after he travelled to the US without presidential approval.
The DA argues Whitfield’s trip was in his party capacity, not as a government official.
In response, the DA is boycotting the upcoming R700 million National Dialogue and plans to vote against budget allocations for departments led by ANC ministers accused of corruption.

The party had issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding the removal of several such officials, which the President ignored.
Tensions between the ANC and DA — key partners in the Government of National Unity (GNU) — have been rising, particularly over controversial legislation and budget issues.
Although the DA won’t pursue a no-confidence vote against Ramaphosa, it has warned it will make governance difficult unless its concerns are addressed.
