Cape Town – The Presidency has condemned a recent visit by the Freedom Front Plus and two other Afrikaner groups to the White House, calling it an attempt to “sabotage” President Cyril Ramaphosa’s diplomatic efforts with US President Donald Trump.
The Afrikaner delegation pushed for the normalisation of US–SA relations, with demands including: farm attacks being labelled a priority crime, condemnation of the “Kill the Boer” slogan, and the exclusion of US entities from B-BBEE requirements.
“It was a very important meeting between our delegation and some senior officials within the White House. The White House was represented by people from the vice president, people from the national security council…. and during the discussion, the White House made it very very clear their position in terms of the pre-conditions for the normalisation of relations between South Africa and the United States between,” said the Freedom Front Plus leader Cornè Mulder during an interview with eNCA.

But according to The Citizen, Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said the visit undermined South Africa’s economic interests and diplomatic progress.
“We find this exercise quite disturbing. It’s an exercise that seeks to sabotage the enormous amount of work that President Cyril Ramaphosa has led to reset the relationship with the United States.
“It’s an exercise aimed at destabilising our economy as well as undermining our economic interests with the United States,” the report quoted Magwenya as saying.
He stressed that murder is already classified as a priority crime in the country and cautioned against framing farm attacks as a racial or Afrikaner issue.
Ramaphosa had met with Trump earlier to strengthen economic ties, but the conversation was reportedly hijacked by Trump’s focus on farm attacks, which shifted attention away from broader bilateral goals.
