Cape Town – The Presidency has confirmed the removal of DA MP Andrew Whitfield from his role as Deputy Minister for Trade, Industry and Competition.
President Cyril Ramaphosa thanked Whitfield for his service.
“The President has thanked the former deputy minister for the time he served in the role,” the presidency said in a statement.

In response, DA federal council chairperson Helen Zille has called an urgent meeting of the party’s federal executive to discuss the President’s actions regarding the makeup of the government of national unity.
