Cape Town – The infamous Saxonwold compound formerly owned by the Gupta family will go under the hammer next month, with steep registration fees for bidders ranging from R250,000 to R500,000, reports said on Friday.
This move, according to Park Village Auctions (PVA), is to deter unserious bidders, citing past disruptions by Gupta-linked lawyers, Times Live reported.
The report said that Park Village Auctions (PVA) received court approval last week to proceed with the auction, and on Thursday, they announced the full details regarding the sale of the three properties.

“We have decided to put stringent rules to deter people who want to mess around. In the past we’ve had the Gupta lawyers messing up by paying the registration fee and then not bidding. We have done a few auctions of their assets in the past,” the report quoted a source from the auction company as saying.

According to The Citizen, three properties from the compound will be auctioned separately, starting with 5 Saxonwold Drive — a large three-storey home with eight bedrooms and luxury features like an indoor pool and rooftop patio.
Next is 7 Saxonwold Drive, another three-storey residence with 17 en suite bedrooms, lounges, a cinema, and a beauty salon.
Lastly, 3 Saxonwold Drive is a smaller, single-storey house with three bedrooms.

The compound, once a hub for the Guptas’ alleged state capture activities, hosted top political figures.
The Guptas have since fled South Africa and are wanted by authorities.
Public viewings are scheduled for June 30, and July 6, 13, and 19.
