Cape Town – South African DJ duo TxC scored a major win last week, taking home the award for Best International Act at the BET Awards.
The category featured a strong line-up of global talent, including fellow South African rapper Maglera Doe Boy and producer Dlala Thukzin.
The duo, made up of Tarryn Reid and Clairise Hefke, accepted the prestigious award on June 9 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, surrounded by thousands of celebrated Black entertainers—including Kendrick Lamar, Jamie Foxx, and Kevin Hart.
Reid and Hefke not only celebrated personal success but also made history as the first DJ duo to receive this coveted honour, joining the ranks of South African stars who have left their mark on the BET Awards stage.
In an interview following their win, the pair were asked how it felt to receive such a momentous accolade.

“Just screaming, I can’t even talk.
“It’s an honour being here as a South African,
“Where I am from it doesn’t really happen to our people and I hope it’s going to happen a lot more,” they said.
The Dou dedicated their award to Amapiano and African dance music by representing the genres, calling it a huge win for both South Africa and Africa.
