Johannesburg – Police are investigating the brutal murder of 14-year-old Likhona Fose, whose mutilated body was found under a shrub in Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg.
She had been missing since Sunday after going out with friends, prompting a widespread search.
The exact cause of her death is still unknown.
“The mutilated body was found in an open veld by a passer-by who notified the police. The suspects are unknown at this stage and police investigations are underway,” IOL quoted Gauteng provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi as saying.

“Resources have been mobilised to ensure that culprits responsible for this heinous attack are behind bars and brought to book. Police are calling upon any person to assist with information that can lead to the arrest of the culprits to contact Crime Stop line at 08600 10111 or report anonymous tip-offs on MySapsApp which can be downloaded on any smartphone.”

Police have opened a thorough investigation and are appealing to the public for any information that could assist the case.
Her death comes shortly after the murder of 30-year-old aspiring journalist Olorato Mongale, whose body was dumped following a date in Johannesburg.
