Cape Town – Two suspects aged 31 and 34 have been arrested for human trafficking following a joint operation by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation teams in Bellville and George, the Department of Home Affairs Immigration unit, and NGO A21.
The arrests took place on 30 May 2025 after authorities received a tip-off about a potential human trafficking victim being held against her will and forced into sex work at a guest house in Goodwood.
According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Siyabulela Vukubi, a search warrant was executed at the premises, where law enforcement discovered four women who admitted to working as sex workers.
“During the search, four females were found in the guest house, who admitted to being sex workers. An additional five other adult persons were found along with three small children. Two of the persons were identified as the managers of the guest house.
“Investigation revealed that one of the sex workers was a victim of trafficking. The two managers of the guest house were immediately arrested,” Vukubi said.
The victim has since been taken to a medical facility for examination and was later referred to a place of safety.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on 2 June 2025 on charges related to human trafficking.
Investigations are ongoing.
