Cape Town – A tragic bike collision occurred near Overbaakens in Gqeberha on Wednesday night, resulting in the death of a 25-year-old biker.
The accident happened when the biker collided with a stray dog while travelling between Circular Drive and AG Visser Avenue, Times Live reported.
Emergency services responded to the scene, finding the injured biker in critical condition.
Despite efforts to stabilise him, the severity of his injuries prevented further medical intervention.
Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead in the early hours of Thursday.
The collision occurred as the biker attempted to overtake a vehicle but was unexpectedly blindsided by the dog, causing him to lose control of his bike, suffer extensive head trauma, and ultimately lose his life.
At the accident site, Phillip Wolfsburg from Precision Tow-in Service reported the collaborative efforts of three EMS services, including Gardmed, as they came together to administer CPR and various other potentially life-saving interventions, reported The Herald.
“At that point, we decided to close the road as there was lots of blood, and we didn’t want children [possibly] seeing [the accident].
“There were many cars on the road, it being the early evening hours,” he said.
